Canadian Conservative Policies
Much like the Republican--or conservative--party in the United States, Canada's conservative political voices advocate for decreased spending and lowering taxes. They also rail against heavy spending and policies they see as damaging to business interests.

Leadership
-
As of 2010, the prime minister of Canada, Mr. Steven Harper, hails from the conservative party. His supporters laud his tax policy, specifically his efforts to stop the implementation of a Carbon Tax. Harper's policy-making also includes the aim of preventing the outsourcing of Canadian jobs to other regions.
Ethical and Political Policy
-
The Canadian conservatives seek policy that protects the continued presence of the constitutional monarchy, thus cementing the English crown as a mainstay in Canadian politics. Conservatives, like many liberals, also wish to emphasize the equality of all Canadian ethnic and linguistic groups. This approach specifically addresses the relationship between English and French-Canadians, a rapport that has seen considerable historical strain.

Planned Policy
-
As with the majority of American conservatives, Canadian conservatives desire limited government intervention in the financial support of Canadians, although they do encourage public resources to be available to those in need. Conservatives also embrace globalization and a mostly laissez-faire approach to participating in its activity. Conservatives do however, support the Canadian health care system, one far more steeped in social-welfare policy than many American conservatives typically endorse.
