California Fire Alarm Regulations
Fire alarm regulations in California are designed to save lives in the event of a fire. All fire alarms must be tested on an annual basis to ensure they are in proper working order. Buildings, schools and other such locations that do not have properly working fire alarm systems place innocent lives in danger. Does this Spark an idea?

Under Section 13114 of the California Health and Safety Code, any fire alarm equipment installed, sold, offered for sale or distributed must be approved by the California State Fire Marshal. Anyone who installs a 100VA fire alarm system or higher must have either a license to do so or be a certified Fire/Life Safety Technician.
False Alarm

Under the guidelines of Section 148.4 of the California Penal Code, anyone who willingly breaks or tampers with a fire alarm system will be charged with a misdemeanor. Those found guilty will be fined a maximum of $1,000 and/or spend a maximum of one year in jail.

Pet Stores

Pet stores in California must make sure that a properly functioning and state-approved fire alarm system is active at all times. Under the guidelines of Section 122155 and 122150 of the California Health and Safety Code, any pet shop owner who does not have a working fire alarm system will be fined a maximum of $1,000.
