KPI & Recycling
A company or organization may use a set of KPI (key performance indicators) to see how effective it is at recycling. However, KPI is not universal and is determined by the organization that is tracking it.

Balanced Scorecard System
-
One method by which to measure KPI is to use a balanced scorecard system. This outlines the measures by which an organization plans to be more eco-friendly, and can include recycling along with other "green" measures. This is relevant to nearly every company, but even more so for those that are in production and have more of a chance to negatively affect the environment.
Areas to Monitor
-
Since it is difficult to determine exactly how much an organization is recycling, there are other, related areas that you can monitor. These include the number of personnel educated on the importance of recycling, the amount of techniques in place to promote recycling, the amount of recycled products used in the office and the diversion of products from a landfill.
-
Software
-
Although you do not need a software program to track recycling KPI, many businesses and organizations have turned to software in order to compile the statistics they need to show a contribution to recycling. Specialized software makes it easier for businesses to compile KPI data that can be shown to other businesses, as well as prospective clients that are serious about partnering with companies that recycle.
