Weider Total Training
Weider Total Training is a system designed by renowned bodybuilder Joe Weider, a personal trainer and the publisher of Muscle & Fitness magazine. His program is designed for aspiring bodybuilders, and includes weights and machines designed for the same purpose. Anyone with gym access can follow the basic steps involved in the Weider training program.
-
Weightlifting
-
Weider Total Training consists of lifting weights to build muscles in every area of the body--arms, legs, chest, shoulders and back. This program consists of multiple sets of anywhere from six to 12 repetitions of each exercise. According to an article on MuscleNet.com, the Weider program emphasizes first working weaker body parts, or alternatively starting with the larger muscle groups, while your energy levels are still high.
Nutrition
-
Diet is a major component of the Weider Total Training program, which encourages bodybuilders to eat four to six meals throughout the day, with a serving of protein and a serving of carbohydrates at each meal. Each serving should be about the size of your fist.
-
Cardiovascular Training
-
While cardiovascular exercise, such as running or swimming, isn't a major part of the Weider Total Training program, it is encouraged. Cardiovascular exercise increases endurance, which is needed for weight training.
