No-Kill Ant Repellent for the Home
Ant invasions can be handled one of two ways. The first way is to kill the ants. The second is to repel the ants. Repelling the ants is a safe nontoxic alternative to harmful chemicals often found in ant killers. Does this Spark an idea?

Why Repel?
-
Ants are an important part of our world. Their tunneling behavior adds air to the soil. They also keep other insect populations under control. Repelling instead of killing helps keep the ants as an important part of the ecosystem.
Scent Trails
-
Ants leave a scent trail behind wherever they go to let the other ants know how to follow. Sprays, such as vinegar, can be used to cover that scent trail, making it harder for more ants to find their way into your home. Lemon juice and citrus oils are also effective as sprays to cover the scent trail. Another option is to use is powders. For example, you can sprinkle cayenne pepper, cinnamon or coffee grounds to act as a cover for the ants' scent trail.

Deterrents
-
Certain odors, such as garlic, can be used to discourage ants from visiting. Place whole garlic cloves between the slats of your deck to drive ants away outside.
