Indoor House Plants Guide
Each plant you bring into your home will need care to survive. Most houseplants come from tropical or semi-tropical climates and may require that you replicate their native conditions in your home. From light, to water, to fertilizer, your houseplants have specific needs. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Fertilizer
-
An organic potting soil that is found at your local gardening center will work fine for most plants. If repotting and preparing your own soil, mix 1 tsp. of a 10-10-10 nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizer per square foot of standard potting soil.
Water
-
It is important to water plants properly, or you will lose them. Over-watering is a main concern. Most soils should be kept moist but not too wet. Plants that originated in tropical climates also benefit from being placed near a humidifier, having their leaves misted with water or being placed in a tray of pebbles and water.

Sun
-
While plants will no survive without any light at all, there are some, such as the peace lily, that need only minimal lighting. Others, like the cactus, will need full sunlight. Many plants' lighting needs fall somewhere in between these extremes.
