There is financial support available for the unemployed.

As of October 2010 there are 9.6 million Americans out of work and facing an uncertain future. If you're one of these peoples, there are some federal and state programs to help you make ends meet.

  1. Unemployment Insurance

    • If you're unemployed through no fault of your own, the Unemployment Insurance Program may be able to help. The amount of financial aid and length of benefits is dependent on your circumstances and local state law. Contact your state Unemployment Insurance Agency to find out more and to file a claim.

    Pathways Out Of Poverty

    • Pathways Out of Poverty is aimed at those living on or below the poverty line and offers grants to help them secure employment in the renewable energy industry. Pathways Out of Poverty operates in towns and cities across the country. Contact them for a project near you.

    Pell Grant

    • If you're unemployed and looking to retrain or re-educate, you may be eligible for the Pell Grant. This federal grant is open to undergraduate students to help pay their college tuition and living costs. As of 2010, the maximum award is $5,550 and is calculated on your financial circumstances and course details.
