The tiger lily is a bulb plant that is also known as the wild lily or red lily. Flowers are deep orange to red with black markings. The plants can grow to a height of 4 or even 5 feet.
Planting Time

Plant tiger lily bulbs in the fall. You can either propagate the lilies by dividing already-established tiger lily plants or plant the mini bulbs, also known as bulbils, that develop on mature plant leaves. Transplanting is most successful when done in the spring or fall.

After initial emergence and growth in the spring, tiger lilies usually bloom in early and mid summer. When their blooming cycle is complete and the stems have turned yellow, they should be cut back to a few inches tall. They then go into a state of dormancy for the fall and winter.
