Adjuster License Training

Insurance claims adjusters work for insurance companies to deal with claims submitted by policyholders. Adjusters schedule and plan the work involved with processing a policyholder's claim.

  1. Prerequisites

    • A high school diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED) is usually the minimum requirement for employers hiring claims adjusters. Licensing requirements for claims adjusters vary by state.

    Skills

    • Claims adjusters work with clients and other insurance professionals, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed. Basic math and computer skills are also assets.

    Education and Training

    • Specific degree requirements are nonexistent to be a claims adjuster, but a degree in business or accounting is an asset. Licensing requirements vary by state, and some states require pre-licensing courses before you receive a license. Some states may also require ongoing education to renew a license.
