The Capacity & Energy Output of Suzlon Wind Turbines

Wind energy is slowly emerging as a viable alternative to expensive natural resources. Farms filled with wind turbines are most common in the Midwest, powering local communities to large towns. Features of Suzlon turbines are competitive in this environment-friendly industry.

Power Generation

The visible rotors on each wind turbine are connected to a gearbox, which mechanically powers an electrical generator. Suzlon's newest model, the S88, allows wind speeds as low as 3 m/s to energize the generator. Wind speeds greater than 11 m/s are most productive at 2,100 kW, according to Suzlon.

Energy Storage

As wind turbine energy technology is quickly evolving, the ability of Suzlon's wind turbines is also expanding. Suzlon's S88 model competitively stores over 2,000 kW, doubling the capability of the 950 model, according to AWEO.

Quantifying Energy Production

On average, each American household demands 5 kW of electricity daily. When operating optimally, a Suzlon S88 model is capable of powering up to 420 households daily. Earlier models such as the Suzlon 950 could power approximately 200 households.
