DOT Contractor Compliance
DOT, or Department of Transportation, Contractor Compliance is designed to protect the civil rights of employees contracted to work on federally supported or federal highways through contractors. This ensures the fairness of non-discrimination.
-
Features
-
Under the DOT Contractor Compliance, discrimination of age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, sex or disabled status is prohibited. All contractor companies, as well as subcontractors, must adhere to these rules to stay funded for federal highway work.
Significance
-
EEO, or Equal Employment Opportunity, regulations working in parallel with the DOT Contractor Compliance also work to protect the hiring of contractors and subcontractors. The federal government must practice non-discrimination policies when hiring companies for federally funded highway jobs.
-
Other Features
-
The DOT Contractor Compliance also includes affirmative action regulations. In particular, provisions for the Native American populations in an area can be added to certain federal highway contracts in regards to affirmative action. Other provisions, based on area and availability, can include women and certain minorities.
