Insects on Knockout Roses

Knockout roses, scientifically known as Rosa "Radrazz," were designed to be worry and care free. They produce beautiful flowers in a variety of colors throughout the growing season in both single and double flower configurations. They are highly disease resistant and have few insect pests. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Thrips

    • Thrips are pale yellow, flying insects that feed on plant tissue. They suck fluids out of leaves and flower parts, leaving a stippled surface or browned flower petals. Thrips are attracted to the pollen of flowers, including knockout roses, particularly Sunny Knock Out.

    Aphids

    • Aphids feed on the sap of plants and create honeydew, which can in turn lead to fungal diseases. Large populations can be detrimental to the knockout rose.

    Japanese Beetles

    • These flying, copper-colored, metallic insects feed on all sorts of flowering and ornamental plants, including roses of all kinds. They begin at the top of the plant and eat their way down, often damaging flowers as well as leaves. Roses are among their preferred plants to dine upon.
