Army Flag Removal

Removing an Army flag does not remove the record.

Army flags on personnel can affect their security clearance. Files associated with the discipline are moved to secure locations. Flags are initiated for disciplinary reasons including security, health and noncompliance to orders.

  1. Flags

    • Flags are used to suspend favorable personnel actions on DA Form 268. According to the standard operating procedures from the U.S. Army's Fort Bragg, the form to initiate a flag is prepared by the personnel administrative specialist.

    Flag Procedure

    • When a flag is produced, it must be sent to the security manager and the personnel service battalion, or PSB. Promotions are restricted through a memorandum that is attached to the file. Reassignments are also restricted. A flag becomes part of the permanent record of the military personnel.

    Flag Removal

    • Removing a flag requires the form AAA-095, suspension of favorable actions. The unit commander signs the management report secured by the S-1/PAC. The PSB must receive the removal request by the 10th of the month. Attached to the request is the memorandum giving reason for the removal and other supporting documents.
