Christmas lights are available in many different varieties.

Christmas lights are available in a wide range of sizes and colors for holiday decorating, but even lights that appear similar may not be created equal. LED lights are a more eco-friendly option in comparison to traditional lights, but there are pros and cons to both types. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Cost

    • LED lights are by far the most expensive option. A strand of LED Christmas lights can cost two to three times as much as a comparable strand of traditional Christmas lights.

    Electricity

    • LED Christmas lights are much more energy efficient than their traditional counterparts. Your exact savings will depend on how long you run the lights and what you pay for electricity, but LED lights always come out cheaper.

    Appearance

    • LED lights flicker very quickly. While this is imperceptible to some people, it can bother others. LED lights also tend to be a bit dimmer than traditional lights.

    Durability

    • Traditional lights can be very flimsy. They are easily cracked and burn out frequently. LED lights are a bit sturdier and the bulbs themselves are more difficult to damage.
