According to Purdue University, almond trees in cultivation are generally kept at 20 feet in height through pruning. However, almond trees can grow up to 25 feet tall.

Growth Rate

Expect a healthy almond tree to grow 8 to 15 inches per year. Trees growing slower than this should receive more fertilizer to promote growth, suggests the Arizona Cooperative Extension.

Considerations

If you're looking for a smaller tree, there are semidwarf varieties that only reach 15 feet in height. If you want almond blossoms but don't need the nuts, dwarf flowering almond trees grow even smaller, topping out at 5 feet.
