Allergy-Free Vent Filters

Allergy-Free vent filters trap allergens before they enter the room.

Allergy-Free Aller-Pure Vent Filters are used to reduce allergens such as dust and pollen from entering the home through air conditioning and heating vents. Allergy-Free has both disposable and permanent vent filters for residential use.

Function

Allergy-Free vent filters are made from an electrostatic polyester material that acts like a magnet for dust, dirt, smoke, pollen and animal dander. The filters trap the allergens and keep the air cleaner and easier to breathe for allergy sufferers.

Types

Allergy-Free manufactures a disposable filter that is sold in a roll or in sheets. These filters need replacing every week to two weeks. Allergy Free Aller-Pure Permanent air filters are made of an electrostatic material that is guaranteed to last for 10 years.

Installation

The disposable Allergy-Free filters are cut to fit the vent's size and placed behind the vent cover. Permanent filters, which are available in 45 sizes, are installed the same location. Velcro tabs are included to keep the filters in place. Do not place filters in every vent in the home as this will affect the air flow and performance of your heating and cooling system.

Alternative

WebMD recommends filtering the air coming through vents with cheesecloth to capture allergens before they enter a room. Cheesecloth filters need regular cleaning, as do permanent Allergy-Free filters to keep them from getting clogged.
