Enterprise Risk Management Certification

Enterprise Risk Management Certification thumbnail
Risk management issues affect all functional areas in an organization.

Enterprise risk management (ERM) requires organizations to collaborate across functional areas and balance risk and reward. For this reason, an ERM certification is useful to many professions.

  1. Identification

    • The ERM certification is applicable for business or functional area managers, financial professionals and risk management professionals. Because all functional areas must participate, certification applies to business managers across many departments, such as IT, accounting and human resources.

    Certification Requirements

    • According to the University of Toronto, an ERM certification is granted upon the completion of several courses. Three of the courses are Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Assessment and Operational Risk, and Internal Control Fundamentals.

    Benefits

    • Once certified, individuals will know how to identify risk, evaluate potential risk, perform risk analysis and set up risk controls and risk mitigation procedures.
