Pennsylvania Grants for Quilt Projects
An anonymous source said, "Quilters touch the past and the future." Grants provide a path to securing quilting legacies throughout Pennsylvania. When searching for quilt project grants, look within and beyond state borders for opportunities that fulfill the needs of the project and funding organization.

Quilt-Specific Organizations
-
National quilting organizations with grant programs don't limit applicants to geographic locations, making them viable funding sources for Pennsylvania-based quilt projects. The American Quilt Study Group, the National Quilting Association and the International Quilt Association award grants specifically for quilting programs. In 2009, the Chambersburg Quilt Guild received a grant from the NQA for the Franklin County Quilt Documentation Project.
Pennsylvania Grantors
-
Funding organizations such as the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts support various art programs statewide, while other organizations support regions within the state. The Leeway Foundation in Philadelphia, for example, supports the arts by awarding $2,500 grants within designated counties of Pennsylvania.

Out-of-State Funding
-
Though not quilt-specific or Pennsylvania-based, several grant-making organizations support textile arts and accept applications from regional and national locations. In 2008, the Coby Foundation supported the Embroidered Quilts of Bengal project of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Friends of Fiber Art International and the National Endowment for the Humanities also support textile projects, and serve as possible sources for quilt project grants in Pennsylvania.
