Eye Scan Security on Laptops
Some biometric security deices and applications are available for use with laptops, but many are designed to work with a desktop computer. Apple and iTunes, as well as many smart phone markets, offer eye scan apps that are designed to use the camera or webcam on the mobile device.

VeriEye is an eye scanner and software compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, all 32- and 64-bit versions. The program and device can log an iris in a quarter of a second as well as scan up to 800,000 irises in one second. It has been tested for performance and reliability by the manufacturer.
VistaMT Multimodal Biometric Device

This biometric security device uses a USB connection, which should work with laptops if the user does not mind carrying around the device. The VistaMT is able to capture iris, fingerprint or facial images for recognition, as well as voice and signature samples for identification and security purposes.

Webcam and Smartphone Apps

The iTunes Store, Android Market and other application sources offer several eye scan apps that can utilize the camera on a smart phone or webcam to capture an eye image for identification and security purposes.
