Italian themed parties are a way to bring together friends and family to celebrate tradition or otherwise to place a twist on a get-together. Italy is rich in culture with its foods, decorations and celebration of heritage.

  1. Invitations

    • Create or purchase Italian themed invitations. Print out images of Italian flags or foods and paste them on blank invitations. Provide the time and location of your party and address them to the guests you wish to invite. Send the invitations out at least two weeks ahead of time and include an RSVP contact method.

    Decor

    • Print or purchase Italian flags for decor for the party. Hang them in the location of the party, use them as favors, or decorate dishes or desserts with them. Use the colors of the Italian flag -- red, green and white -- to cover the chairs and tables in cloths. Use like-colored dishes to serve food and drink. Other themes that would be appropriate for decorating include olives, grapes, pasta and wines.

    Food

    • Search for Italian recipes in your cookbooks or online. Create a menu inspired by Italy that includes pasta and other Italian dishes. Chicken cacciatore, spaghetti and fresh Italian bread is one possible meal. Other recipes that include olives and Italian cheeses, or Italian soups, such as minestrone, can be part of the Italian cuisine you serve. With its rich culinary heritage, Italy offers plenty of choices for food.

    Music

    • Play Italian inspired music such as instrumental pieces or music performed by Italian artists such as Andrea Bocelli or Luciano Pavarotti.
