  1. Growing Zones

    • The magnolia tree is typically only found in the eastern United States and Canada, typically from as far north as New York to as far south as northern Florida, and in southeast Asia.     Types

    • The southern magnolia is the most widely known and can be found abundantly throughout the southeast United States, extending over into Texas. The southern magnolia can grow as tall as 80 feet. The Cucumber Tree variety of the magnolia can be found as far north as New York. This variety can grow to 60 feet tall. The Sweet Bay magnolia can be anywhere from 60 feet tall in the southern part of its growing zone to 10 feet in the north.

    Other Considerations

    • There are more than 80 varieties of magnolia. Some are evergreen, while others are deciduous. The evergreen varieties remain attractive all year and can typically be grown in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States as attractive shrubs.
