CRT Vs. LCD Projector

CRT Vs. LCD Projector thumbnail
Projectors have come a long way since the advent of digital.

When choosing between a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) and a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) projector, a variety of factors should be taken into account.

  1. CRT

    • A CRT projector sets the standard in image quality. Though many types exist, these projectors limit pixelation (if not eliminate it entirely), and present colors accurately. The units themselves tend to be bulky and less user friendly than other digital models.

    LCD

    • These units tend to be portable and easy to use and maintain. Many can simply be plugged in, focused, and then are ready to go. The sacrifice here is in quality, as pixelation will often occur with LCD. The bulbs also burn out relatively quickly and are expensive to replace.

    Comparison

    • Those looking for a projector capable of producing the highest quality image should probably choose the CRT. These also tend to be slightly more cost effective than LCD models. Those looking for a no-fuss projector still capable of producing a decent quality image would do well with an LCD projector.
