Safety cameras track driving speeds.

Law enforcement agencies across the world use safety cameras to monitor the speed of drivers in an effort to ticket speeding drivers. Garmin offers a subscription service to use in conjunction with their GPS products to alert drivers of the camera locations.

  1. Database

    • Garmin maintains a safety camera database that it updates weekly. When a driver approaches a safety camera, an alert sounds on a Garmin GPS unit loaded with Garmin's safety camera subscription.

    Compatible Devices

    • As of 2010, Garmin has four series of products capable of working with its safety camera subscription: the Nuvi Series, Zumo Series, Street Pilot c500 Series and the Aera Series

    Availability

    • Safety camera subscriptions are available as a European bundle, separate packages for European countries, a South Africa package and a U.S. and Canada package. The subscriptions are available as a one-time download of all known cameras or as a one-year subscription for unlimited downloads of camera locations, which will remain up-to-date as Garmin updates its database.
