The jelly jars used by Welch's, the self-proclaimed "leading marketer of Concord and Niagara grape-based products," have been made by Anchor Hocking of Lancaster, Ohio, since 1953. Anchor Hocking signs its craftsmanship by imprinting the bottoms of jelly jars with its anchor logo. Does this Spark an idea?

    • Anchor Hocking is America's second largest supplier of specialty glassware supplier and a leader in the production of lighting components, beverageware, candle containers and and corporate glassware lines. Founded in 1905, Anchor Hocking is headquartered out of Lancaster, Ohio, and has been producing printed jelly and jam jars for Welch's since the early 1950s as a division of Global Home Products.

    • Lancaster, Ohio, was founded on Nov. 10, 1800, by Col. Ebenezer Zane: a famous soldier, merchant and pioneer during his time. Located in Fairfield County, Ohio, Lancaster is situated near the Hocking River about 30 miles southeast of the state's capital, Columbus. In addition to the Anchor Hocking headquarters, other famous landmarks located in or near Lancaster, Ohio, include Mount Pleasant, the William Reese home, the Wagnalls Memorial and Stonewall Cemetery.

    Specialty Series

    • Official Welch's jam and jelly jars made by Anchor Hocking are considered collector's item. Anchor Hocking has also been producing specialty series glass jars for Welch's since 1953, a practice which began with the manufacturing of glass Howdy Doody jelly jars, and has continued through the production of Pokémon jars commemorating Welch's 25th specialty jar series.
