What Is a CTP?

The Association for Financial Professionals is the governing body that awards individuals with a certification enabling them to become a certified treasury professional (CTP). These distinguishing certifications are highly regarded in the treasury and finance fields.

Features

A CTP has demonstrated extensive knowledge of corporate treasury management and the skills necessary to execute critical functions related to capital and risk management as well as corporate liquidity. This includes everything from managing assets and liabilities to utilizing various payment systems and Internet technologies.

Earning a CTP certification gives an individual a designation proving they are capable of performing competently in a demanding corporate finance and/or treasury department. Corporations employing CTPs will have security in knowing their finances are handled with care and they will be able to promote this distinction to boost their image and appeal.

Certification

To become a CTP, an individual must take and pass an exam offered by the Association for Financial Professionals, which includes paying an exam fee. Full-time university students who pass a corporate treasury management program as well as the CTP exam can receive a certified treasury professional associate (CTPA) title, which can become a CTP title after two years of full-time work experience.
