Can I Place a Hot Tub Indoors?

A hot tub or spa can be placed indoors or outdoors. Modern hot tubs may designed for therapy, relaxation or entertaining. Regardless of your intended use, all indoor hot tubs must be in a well ventilated room.

Cold winter temperatures and the desire for privacy are the top two reasons to place a hot tub indoors. Your hot tub may last longer indoors because it is protected from bad weather, sunlight and temperature extremes.

Ventilation

An indoor hot tub requires an adequate ventilation system to remove humid, warm air and replace it with fresh air. A ventilation system may be as simple as a pair of windows or involve air conditioners and exhaust fans.

Considerations

An indoor hot tub may be more expensive than an outdoor hot tub to install and operate. The added expense is due to the ventilation system expense combined with the electrical and maintenance costs of the building itself.
