Cisco Router Training
Cisco Systems offers a number of training opportunities including classroom, live online learning and tailored training. Router and switch training go hand-in-hand and begin with the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and lead to CCIE expert certification.

CCENT Router Training

Cisco CCENT training lays the groundwork for advanced routing certification. The CCENT learns a variety of skills, among them the fundamentals of routing and switching. The coursework lays a foundation for networking careers and leads to the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
CCNA Router Training

CCNA certification is laden with enhanced router training. CCNA certification curriculum provides the skills needed to work in an IT environment requiring medium-sized routing and switching networks. Among the CCNA courses are EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol) training and "Routing Information Protocol Version 2," among other concepts and protocols.

CCIE Routing

CCIE status is difficult to gain, but estabishes you as an expert in Cisco routing and switching. Ultimately, you can achieve Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) status. There are no formal requirements for this certification; however there are steps you must take. First is passing a two-hour written qualification test, covering routing and switching theories and equipment commands. The next step is to take and pass a routing and switching lab test. An eight-hour examination, it requires you to demonstrate troubleshooting abilities intimed tests. After passing the written test, you have three years to take the lab test.
