What Is a CISA Certification?

The Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification is an internationally recognized standard for individuals within the accounting industry. CISA is awarded by ISACA, an international organization for information technology professionals.

CISA

ISACA reports the CISA certification is awarded to individuals who audit, control and monitor the information and security systems of an organization. One of the common requirements for CISA certification is the minimum of five years of work experience in information systems auditing and control.

Exam

To become CISA certified, an exam must be passed with a score of 450 or more. The scoring range of the CISA exam is between 200 and 800.The CPA Journal explains the CISA exam can be taken in June and December each year, and is available in 10 languages.

Certification

According to the CPA Journal, CISA certified professionals audit a technology system and compare it with similar systems before preparing a report on the findings of the audit. Professionals with CISA certification must adhere to a schedule of continuing education to maintain certification.
