Vendors sell food and much more from their carts.

Mobile vendors sell merchandise from carts or trucks that can travel to different locations. Static vendors offer their wares from kiosks or stalls that are often permanent or semi-permanent fixtures inside flea markets or shopping centers.

  1. Mobile Carts

    • Mobile carts and vending trucks travel to fairs, festivals and sporting events to vend food items and impulse-buy items like toys or collectibles. Mobile food vendors sell food in high foot-traffic areas in cities as well as at fairs and other events. Selling food from mobile carts usually requires special permits from health departments and local governments.

    Flea Market Vendor

    • Flea markets have spaces for both mobile and static vendors to sell their wares. Kiosks and indoor stalls are available inside the flea market for selling merchandise and tables are available outside for temporary or mobile vendors. According to the California State Board of Equalization, vendors must have a sellers permit to sell items at flea markets; most states have similar rules.

    Carts and Kiosks

    • Vendors can rent space inside shopping centers or malls and erect semi-permanent stalls or kiosks to sell merchandise. According to Entrepreneur, cart or kiosk vendors can do well selling seasonal merchandise in a busy mall or selling items at sporting events and in airport terminals.
