How to Make a Hanging Door Sign for a Teacher
A hanging door sign should reflect the person inside the classroom, so before you make your sign, spend a few moments thinking about what that person is like and how he or she would like the classroom to be perceived.
-
Prepare the Sign
-
Your sign should be bright and welcoming.
Choose pictures that say something about the teacher or the teacher's interests.
Take an A5-sized card and sketch your design. Paint your design or build it up as a collage. You can incorporate fabrics, photographs, stickers or any other materials. Try mosaic work using a pixel picture program like PixelHobby Designer, Version 2.0 to make your sign unique.
Make sure to leave room for the teacher's name and class number.
Frame Your Work
-
Choose a complementary or contrasting color for the backing card. Once your painting is finished and dry, stick it onto a backing card that is an inch larger all around and add a beveled cutout mount. These can be found at picture framers. This will give your sign an extra dimension. Choose a complementary or contrasting color.
-
Attach the Hanger
-
Brightly colored hanger. Punch a hole in the top corners of the picture about an inch in from the side and half an inch down. Take a length of brightly colored ribbon and thread from the front to the back and tie in a secure knot.
Choose a ribbon to match the school or class team color to make the sign more personal.
