What is an Army Review of Performance?
Almost every company reviews employee performance at least on a yearly basis, and the United States Army is no exception. The Army outlines strict guidelines for employee review of performance.

Definition
-
An army review of performance addresses several areas of employee behavior. The rater assesses the employee's performance, reinforces Army values, discusses the employee's potential and documents any awards the employee has received.
Levels
-
The Army rates employees using five levels. Excellence refers to a consistently high quality product at a consistently high speed. Success means a usually high quality product at a better than average rate. Needs improvement refers to slightly more failures than successes. Fails means the employee does not meet standards or expectations. Sometimes the employee will not be rated in an area.

Remdial Steps
-
If the employee is rated as a needs improvement or fails in some areas, he will be placed on a product improvement program, which lasts about 90 days. During this time, he will be given specific standards and receive counseling. If this intervention is still unsuccessful, the employee must be demoted, reassigned or removed.
