Homemade cars are excellent projects for all age groups.

Homemade car projects are an excellent choice for scouting events, class projects, lazy days or party favors. You can determine the level of difficulty of your project depending on what you decide to use to create it.

Milk cartons become box cars and toilet paper tubes become tube racers. Motor cars are created from cereal boxes and PT cruisers from paper towel or wrapping paper tubes. Several little cars can be put together on a hanger to make a mobile. Race tracks are another creative option.

The basic materials are something for the body of the car and four wheels. Allow children to be creative and watch with amazement at what they come up with. Give them a supply of old boxes, toilet paper and paper towel tubes, plastic cups, milk cartons and plastic containers. Cardboard egg cartons work well too. Use construction paper, crayons, markers or paint to decorate your car. Milk jug lids, bottle caps, baby food jar lids or cardboard can be used for wheels. Attach the wheels with thin wire or pipe cleaners. Smaller children may need help with this.
