Mazda 2.2L Performance

Mazda's 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine is scheduled to enter the U.S. market in 2013, code-named the "Sky-D." This engine meets federal pollution restriction requirements and will provide optimum fuel economy and performance when it appears in the 2013 Mazda CX-5.

Performance

The Mazda 2.2-liter direct-injection diesel has a projected rating of 167 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 310 pound-feet of torque at 5,200 rpm according to Inside Line. This engine offers a low compression ratio allowing for the engine to meet stringent U.S. pollution requirements while providing corresponding levels of power.

New Model

The Mazda CX-5 is a new crossover model being planned for European debut in 2012. This vehicle is expected to share the same platform used for the Ford Escape according to CNET.com.

Fuel Economy

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 has a projected fuel economy rating of 43 miles to the gallon. A gas engine will also be offered.
