How do I Remove a Screen From a Storm Window?
To clean and maintain window screens they occasionally have to be removed from storm windows. The method for removing screens depends on the type of storm window in place and requires a bit of coordination. Does this Spark an idea?

Disengaging the Screen
-
Removing screens from storm windows requires that the mechanisms which hold the screen in place are disengaged. For most windows there are springs on each side of the bottom of the screen. To disengage simply push those springs or tabs to the outside of the screen.
Type of Window
-
Generally, there are two types of double hung storm windows with screens. To properly remove the screen you must first determine whether the screen to be removed is a full or half screen. A full screen can be removed by pulling down immediately after the pins are disengaged, but a half screen must first be lifted and then pulled out and down to remove it from the window.

Prevention of Damage
-
To avoid tearing the screen, or damaging the glass or paint, screens should be removed from storm windows using both hands and maneuvered through the window sill with caution.
