    Experience

    • MRI technicians' salary rises with their experience. As of November 2010, according to PayScale, techs with fours years or less of experience receive hourly pay between $21.02 and $28.66. Techs with 5 to 9 years of experience earn slightly higher hourly pay, $24.03 to $30.45. Having 10 to 19 years of experience earns pay from $26.64 to $34.72 an hour.

    Employers

    • Compensation for MRI techs differs by employment setting. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of May 2008, MRI techs employed in medical and diagnostic laboratories brought home a median salary of $55,210. Those employed by the federal executive branch earned slightly more at $53,600, while hospitals paid salaries averaging $52,890.
