Pop Top Purse Directions
Purses made out of pop tabs can be attractive, make a statement about fashion or recycling and enhance creative skills. There are a couple of different ways to construct purses from pop tops. Two of the most common are crocheting and wiring. Does this Spark an idea?

Crochet
-
Crocheting is a great way to make an attractive purse. There are several different patterns available online or in craft stores. Patterns are easier to read for those who are already familiar with crocheting and know a few basic stitches. Patterns for small clutch purses, evening bags and larger purses are available. The simplest method uses a single chain stitch to create a rectangular bottom, then a single chain stitch to connect tabs together and to the base.
Wire
-
For those who aren't able to crochet or who want a different look, craft wire works well. It comes in a variety of colors and weights. It's also possible to use ribbon, although it tears after extended use. Wire makes a stiffer purse than ribbon or crocheting. Although assembly depends on personal preference, one method uses 3.5-inch pieces of wire run connecting four tabs at once. The four-tab sections are then wired together to complete the purse.

Considerations
-
It takes a large number of pop tabs to make a purse, even a small one. Small ones may take 400 tabs, larger ones may require 750 to 1,000. It is possible to let someone else do the collecting and buy the tabs on eBay. Otherwise, enlist other friends and family members to save tabs.
