History

During the material's origins, only a single layer dyed film made from polyester was available. As of 2010, there have been major improvements in the window tinting industry. Multi-layered tints are available, which claim to block nearly double the rays of older dyed versions.

Something to keep in mind about window tint is your local laws concerning it. Regulations can differ greatly from one area to the next. In Georgia, it is a misdemeanor to have window tinting film on your front windshield.
