Can I Use My Satellite Receiver Without a Cable?

A satellite receiver requires cables to make the connection between the receiver, the satellite dish and your TV. Without a cable connection, the receiver would be useless and your satellite system would not work properly.

Function

Coaxial cables are used to make the connection between your satellite dish and the receiver. The cables carry both the video and audio signal from the satellite to the receiver.

TV Connection

In order to connect your receiver to your TV to watch satellite programming, an HDMI cable or a set of component cables are necessary. The component and HDMI cable transfer the audio and video signals to your TV's screen and your speakers.

Considerations

The placement of your receiver and home theater setup are dependent on your cabling capabilities. The receiver must be within reach of the coaxial cable from your satellite dish and close enough to a TV for the component cables to reach.
