Liquid products, such as peppermint oil, lemon oil, orange oil and vinegar, are natural ant repellents. You can also keep ants away with dried products, including bay leaves, coffee grounds, cinnamon, chili pepper and tea bags.
Usage

Identify how the ants are getting into your home and lay the ant repellent in that area. Use more of the repellent in areas where you see a large number of ants, including areas outside your home.

Homemade repellents acts as a deterrent for the ants, with the scent and taste making the ants turn away. It won't kill the ants and if the scent or flavor wears off, the ants may return in the future.
