Advice for Packing Moving Boxes
A move can be a stressful time, but making sure to pack all the moving boxes correctly can simplify the move and ensure that all of your possessions arrive intact at your new home. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Heavy Items
-
Put heavier items in the smallest boxes possible. This will ensure that those boxes do not get overpacked and as a result become too heavy to lift. Also, try to keep all boxes under 50 pounds. A more even weight distribution will make it easier to lift and stack boxes and to keep from breaking items inside.
Labeling
-
Make sure to label all boxes with a summary of the content, the location in the new home where the box should go and any special rules for the box, such as if its contents are fragile. You can also write any special instructions on the box for the movers if you are using a moving service.
-
Organization
-
Try to pack one room at a time to ensure that items end up together in the correct location in the new home. This also will make the task of packing easier. If a box contains fragile items, make sure they are packed toward the top of the box and are packed appropriately; most dishes should be placed upright or vertically.
