High-Capacity Shredders
Most companies produce large amounts of printed records and communications that should not be thrown away without being destroyed. But a standard office shredder can't handle large amounts of confidential documents; here, you'd need a high-capacity shredder.

High-Capacity Shredders
-
High-capacity, or industrial, shredders can handle such a large volume of paper shredding that they are labeled by shredded pounds of paper per hour. The machine can shred continuously throughout the day, and can destroy 11 to 450 sheets at a time, depending on the model. Often, they have wider feed widths for ease of shredding or for larger documents. High-capacity shredders rarely cost less than $10,000, and they can run upward of $20,000.
Alternatives

If your business is smaller, you might not need a high-capacity/industrial shredder. You could use a departmental or heavy-duty shredder, which also can handle continuous shredding but no more than 60 sheets at a time.
If you do not necessarily need an in-house shredder, consider using a shredding service.

Shredding Services
-
Many companies send their documents to a shredding service, which costs substantially less than having their own shredders. However, some argue that since the company itself does not destroy the document, using a shredding service compromises the security of the material, since others can easily view your documents. The decision to use a shredding service should be based on the amount of money saved versus the importance of the secrecy of the material.
