Anti-Trojan horse is a term used to describe a particular type of Trojan horse virus. All Trojan horse viruses slow your computer and decrease your available memory. Thus, they should be removed immediately.

    • A Trojan horse is a malicious program disguised as a legitimate program. An anti-Trojan horse refers to a host of malicious programs designed to look like legitimate anti-malware programs.

    Purpose

    • The purpose of an anti-Trojan horse is to scare users into thinking their computer is infected so they will purchase the "full version" of the the anti-malware program. This is done by flooding the users computer screen with fake malware scans and malware alert pop-ups.

    Examples

    • There are dozens of anti-Trojan horses. Some of the more common include, Antivirus System Pro, System Tool 2011 and Antivirus Live.
