How Do I Use a Sony Cybershot as a Webcam?
Any model of a Sony Cybershot digital camera can be used as a functional webcam. This process takes a little longer than simple choosing settings on the camera, but provides a high-quality webcam feed.
-
Plug In DC Adapter
-
Plug in the Sony Cybershot using a DC adapter. The process will not work with batteries and they would quickly drain and die if used as a webcam.
Connect RCA Cable
-
Use the supplied RCA cable connection and plug it into the "Video Out" port of the Cybershot. You cannot use a USB or Firewire drive to connect your camera.
-
Identification
-
Plug the yellow RCA cable into a video-in port on your computer. Press the "Power" button on the camera and wait for the computer to recognize the camera connection.
Webcam Application
-
Use almost any webcam application to load the camera. In the "device" selection, look for your camera model or the "Video-In" port for selection.
Use
-
Use a mini-tripod to keep your webcam mounted. Use the camera's different functions like zoom and focus to customize the webcam view.
