Texas Driver and Traffic Safety Education
The Texas Driver and Traffic Safety Education is a school education course aimed at teaching teenagers how to drive correctly and safely. It uses practical training, classroom instruction and simulator training to ensure the teenager learns the importance of driving safely, and standards are controlled by the Texas Education Agency.

Passing the Texas Driver and Traffic Safety Education program, Module One, is a prerequisite for obtaining an instructional permit for the learner driver. This covers traffic laws and the driver licensing system and lasts at least 360 minutes in its entirety.

After passing Module One, the teenager must take at least seven hours of behind-the-wheel instruction followed by seven hours of observation of their driving. Options for the in-car instructional phase include using some hours of simulator time. The in-car phase encompasses Modules Two through 12, and includes some classroom examinations.
