Why Won't Mozilla Open My SWF File?
The SWF file format is the extension for Adobe Flash. Flash files are used by many video sites, including YouTube. To view the files you will have to install the Flash plugin.

Installing the Plugin
-
If you do not already have the Flash player program, Mozilla Firefox should display a bar at the top of the screen asking whether you want to a install the missing plugin when you visit a site with an SWF file. Simply click the "Install" button and follow the prompts that appear. If the bar does not appear on its own, you can follow the link in the resources to download the plugin.
Updating Flash
-
Even if you know that you have installed Adobe's Flash Player, it could be in need of an update. The plugin does not automatically update itself, or alert you when updates are available. Since it takes so little time, it can be well worth your effort to follow the steps described section 1. Even if it does not solve your problem, you can at least be sure that you have the program's most recent version.

Mozilla's Plugin Checker
-
Mozilla provides a page that can check whether your plugins are working properly. Visit the Plugin Check page found in the resources to have Mozilla attempt to give you more of an idea of what could be wrong with your Flash plugin. The page also should provide recommendations of how to fix the problem.
