Finding Normal Posture
-
In normal posture, your head, rib cage and pelvis are aligned and balanced over your feet. Your ears should be in line with your shoulders and the center of your eyes should line up with the center of your body. The bumps along your spine should be in a straight line.
Benefits of Good Posture
-
The benefits of maintaining normal posture are reduced stress on your joints, fewer over-use injuries and increased muscular endurance. Maintaining good posture will reduce the amount of back and neck pain you experience in your older years. In order to receive the benefits of good posture, practice returning to normal posture whenever you are standing, sitting or laying down.

Causes of Poor Posture
-
In order to prevent poor posture, focus on the roots of the condition. Obesity, pregnancy, weak muscles, high-heeled shoes and a lack of flexibility contribute to your body's inability to maintain normal posture.
