The Soul Urge number is derived using only the vowels in your full birth name. Vowels have the following values: A=1, E=5, I=9, O=6, U=3 and Y=7. "Charlotte May Evans" would have the following groups of name numbers: 1+6+5, 1+7 and 5+1.

Calculating a Soul Urge Number

Our sample name's values are: Charlotte = 12, May = 8 and Evans = 6. Leave single digit numbers, but reduce all double digits except 11 and 22, which are "Master Numbers." To reduce, add the individual digits: 12 is 1+2, which equals 3. Charlotte's name numbers are 3, 8 and 6. These are added, making 17. Because this is a double digit, and not a Master Number, it must be reduced: 1+7 = 8.

The Soul Urge number reveals motives and attitudes. Charlotte's 8 means that she is motivated by material happiness. She is confident, has good judgment and self-control, but these traits can be taken too far and become negative.
