-
Duties
-
A bellboy's job is much more than assisting with luggage. He is responsible for escorting guests to their rooms and then inspecting the room to make sure everything is in order. Need a cab or want to locate a great restaurant? Just ask the bellboy, because he is well versed in these areas, too.
Benefits
-
Besides the financial benefit, tipping a bellboy is a reward for good service, for quality assistance beyond the norm, and/or for a job well done. It is a way to thank him for doing a job that directly services you.
-
Amount
-
The rule of thumb for tipping a bellboy is $1 or $2 per bag. If you only have one bag, then the minimum tip should be $2. If you ask for directions, add a tip of $1 or $2, and hailing a cab costs about $5.
