  1. History

    • Fuchsia plants are native to Argentina, Chile and Mexico. There are more than 100 different species. The most common fuchsia is the hybrid lady's eardrop, which is derived from F. magellancia and Fuchsia fulgens.

    Blooms

    • Fuchsias produce colorful blooms for several weeks and each bloom can last for a few days. With the proper care, fuchsia plants can survive for many years. After the bloom is spent, pinch it off to promote new buds.

    Warnings

    • Dry and hot conditions can cause the buds to develop improperly and cause the flowers that do open to drop and fade quickly. Fuchsias are affected by whiteflies. Aphids are also a common pest and will cause the leaves to curl.
