How Do I Change the Ecosystem?

How Do I Change the Ecosystem? thumbnail
An ecosystem encompasses both living and nonliving factors.

An ecosystem is defined as a system involving the interactions between a community of living organisms in a particular area and their nonliving environment. Balance must be maintained. When ecosystems lose balance, living organisms can be lost. Such a loss creates a snowball effect that can eventually have highly negative outcomes on human beings. Being an environmentally-conscious person can help lessen the impact on an ecosystem.

  1. Habitat Change

    • A habitat change is generally due to increased land use or the physical modification of rivers. When necessary changes are made they should be done so with the intent to maintain balance. At home, you can do your part by using water conservatively.

    Overexploitation

    • Overexploitation is common in areas where the rate of trapping, hunting and mining is high. Laws have been put into place to help maintain the balance of plants, animals and other living things. However, education on the dangers of overexploitation to all living things including humans should be implemented.

    Pollution

    • For the average person, pollution comes in the form of what is used in the household and how the usage is managed. Deciding not to liter, and to reuse, recycle and conserve is the best way to limit household pollution.
